As Styria is located in the Alpine region, water as a source of life has always had a special significance in Styria. On the other hand, sewage treatment has undergone many development stages, in which special attention has been given to treating sewage sludge. This has made it possible to develop numerous technologies accelerating an international triumphant advance.
Sewage sludge dehydration
A Styrian company is the worldwide leader when it comes to providing plants and systems for (mechanical and thermal) industrial and municipal sludge drying and dehydration.
Sustainable water utilisation
The Competence Network relating to Water Resources, which was initiated in Styria, has become the largest knowledge centre in Central Europe with 4 participating countries and more than 45 current research projects concerning sustainable utilisation of water — from tunnel construction to thermal water.

Styria and its cities have a trailblazing position enabled by many showpiece facilities which have been put into operation in the last few years.
