The
Umwelttechnik Netzwerkbetriebs GmbH is the sponsoring agency for ECO WORLD STYRIA. Between 1998 and 2004,
Eco & Co – Ökotechnik Netzwerk Steiermark [Styrian Network for Environmental Technology], the precursor project,
had been implemented by TRIGON developmental consultancy with the financial support of the City of Graz, the Province of Styria and the Styrian Agency for the Promotion of Trade and Industry (SFG).
In early 2005, the successful network was upgraded by establishing a special ”Environmental Technology Network Operations Ltd.“, which is owned by
Innofinanz and SFG. Since 5 April 2006, the organisation has operated under the “ECO WORLD STYRIA” brand as an organisation supported by the Province of Styria and has taken the economic initiative in the field of energy and environmental technology. The mission includes location marketing and location development and is defined in the corporate principles and policy in more detail.
The funds for ECO WORLD STYRIA are not only provided by the contributions made by the members but, above all, by the SFG, the Province of Styria (Specialised Department 19 D), the City of Graz (Department 15) as well as Binder+Co AG, e2 group umweltengineering GmbH, FIBAG Forschungszentrum für integrales Bauwesen AG and KWB Kraft und Wärme aus Biomasse GmbH.
