ANDRITZ receives further sewage sludge drying plant order from France

Graz, 28 January 2009. International technology Group ANDRITZ received an order from the consortium OTV (Veolia)/STEREAU, France for supply of three drying lines for sewage sludge from Les Grésillons wastewater treatment plant, which is operated by the Paris wastewater authority, SIAAP. ANDRITZ will deliver its advanced low-temperature belt drying technology (BDS). It is the second sewage sludge drying plant that ANDRITZ will supply to SIAAP; the first was delivered for the Valenton wastewater treatment plant.

The Les Grésillons drying plant is part of a plant extension to treat 300,000 m3 of domestic sewage of the Paris area per day. Each of the three belt drying lines will have a water evaporation capacity of 4 t/h, which makes this installation the largest belt drying plant for sewage sludge worldwide.

The customer’s main reasons for selecting ANDRITZ BDS were the technology’s high safety and reliability, the unique concrete design, low maintenance requirement as well as the advanced automation and supervision concept allowing minimum operator attendance. Due to integrated energy recovery, the thermal energy requirement is particularly low.
