European Solar Prize for KWB

A role model for ecological, economical and social responsibility – with this verdict of the jury, KWB Biomass Heating Systems won the European Solar Prize. The internationally acknowledged prize for renewable energies was recently handed over by Hermann Scheer, ‘Alternative Nobel Prize’ winner and President of Eurosolar in Berlin.

The European Solar Prize is a special honour for KWB and simultaneously an obligation to continue their strong activity for renewable energies. “Right from the beginning, we wanted to clearly distinguish ourselves from the common offer of services and also convey values to our customers with our heating systems: We give energy for life, because we ensure life with environmentally friendly and innovative biomass heating systems”, said Managing Director Erwin Stubenschrott on the occasion of the awards ceremony in Berlin. By the way: KWB was the only Austrian company to win this coveted prize.

The specialist for pellet, wood chip and log-wood heating systems was awarded with the prize, because the company is standing up for the conversion of the heat supply to renewable energies in an outstanding manner: KWB produces climate-neutral biomass heating systems, maintains the biggest private biomass research centre in Europe and in the KWB Academy offers its employees and partners numerous possibilities for training and further education. The commitment for the use of CO2-neutral heating equipment, the unique research activity and the comprehensive training offer make KWB Biomass Heating Systems a role model for ecological, economical and social responsibility.

For the eleventh time already, Eurosolar, the European Association for Renewable Energies, awarded the European Solar Prize. The prize goes to (public) institutions, persons and companies, which/who to a particular extent get involved with the use of solar energy in any form imaginable. 100 projects applied for the prize this year.

Eurosolar e.V.
Eurosolar is an independent association with the objective to completely substitute nuclear and fossil energy with renewable energy. It was founded in 1988, and meanwhile has about 3,000 members. At all operating levels, communal to international, the association addresses the various political protagonists with plans for actions and concepts: market launch strategies, tax political assistance or strategy documents for sustainable agriculture are only a few examples for that.

The co-founder and President of Eurosolar is Hermann Scheer. He is a Member of the German Bundestag for the SPD, a member on the Federal Board of his party and honorary chairman in the World Council for Renewable Energies (WCRE). Since the end of the eighties, Scheer has been active at the national and international level for the general substitution of nuclear and fossil energies.
