During his fact-finding mission in Styria, EU Commissioner Hahn obtained background information about projects supported with financial means from the fund for regional development, just as, e.g., the development of the ECO WORLD STYRIA cluster. On site, Commissioner Hahn showed himself highly impressed by the innovative achievements in the area of renewable energy and environmental engineering as well as the award as the world’s best environmental engineering cluster resulting therefrom.
As the EU Commissioner for Regional Development, the former Austrian Minister of Science is responsible for the second-biggest fund of the EU. Styria is a role model above all for future investments and concentrates on the new structural development period starting from 2014, in order to continue supporting innovative small and medium-sized companies in all of Styria.
